The ideal candidate possesses a passion for Jewish communal engagement and interest in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and a desire to acquire skills in fundraising for a non-profit organization. This is a unique opportunity to work as part of a close-knit team and gain hands-on experience in a wide range of responsibilities, including but not limited to: prospect research, development processes, database management, communications, and communal outreach. The Development Intern will work closely with Encounter’s New York team to broaden our strategic outreach and integration of programming and development strategies. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, highly detail-oriented, committed to a high excellence in all work and demonstrates a willingness to learn and take initiative.
Through this internship, our interns gain invaluable knowledge and experience related to individual and foundation philanthropy; donor and prospect research; and professional writing skills. Interns also gain experience with software including Salesforce (donor database).
- Must commit to a minimum of 12 hours/week
- Experience and/or knowledge of the American Jewish community
- Highly detail-oriented
- Tech savvy
- Strong research skills
- Self-motivated with a positive attitude
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Personable and professional, able to interface with organizational stakeholders on the phone and via email in a professional manner
- Basic knowledge on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict
- Basic knowledge of Salesforce or other database
- Basic HTML knowledge
This internship is unpaid. Encounter is able to offer a modest stipend to cover transportation.
